Artist Statement
Always curious and everything and anything, Christine Armbruster has turned her curiosity into the focus of her documentary work. Armbruster leans into her fascination with the unknown and the smaller places of the world, diving deeply into areas that are often an after thought. Whether it be the tiniest towns of Utah, unrecognized countries, or villages left over from the Soviet Union, these are the places that fascinates her most. With a gentleness towards humanity and desire to be kind and respectful to the places she photographs, she aims to document life and people that would have otherwise gone unnoticed. You will often find her traveling with an old medium format film camera, which she says helps her slow down and truly notice the world around her.
